Telangana High Court Reduced Sentence in Husband Stabbing Death Case

The Telangana High Court reduced the punishment of a woman who stabbed her husband to death during a domestic altercation, holding that the incident fell under the “heat of passion” exception under Exception 4 to Section 300 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Instead of treating the act as murder under Section 302 IPC, the Court viewed the incident as one arising out of a sudden quarrel without premeditation.
According to reports, the sentence was ultimately reduced to a nominal fine of ₹500.
