Maharashtra Woman Arrested for Allegedly Trying to Kill Husband

Baramati, Maharashtra: A 38-year-old woman, Sharmila Praveen Jagtap, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to kill her husband by drugging him, assaulting him with a bat, and trying to bury him inside a pit built in their home.

Police said the plan came to light after construction workers noticed suspicious activity and alerted authorities, leading to the husband’s rescue.

Alleged Attack

According to the complaint, the woman allegedly mixed sleeping pills into her husband’s drink, rendering him unconscious for two days. She then allegedly attacked him and placed him inside a brick-and-cement pit, covering it with a slab.

The victim, Praveen Jagtap, said he regained partial consciousness during the assault and was later rescued after workers noticed movement and informed the police.

Other Allegations

He also claimed his mother was given sleeping pills and that his children were taken by his in-laws. He further raised suspicions of black magic based on calendar entries, though no evidence supports this claim.

Investigation

Police arrested the accused after a complaint was filed by the victim’s father. The case is under investigation, and all allegations remain unproven in court.
